WANA (Apr 01) – The Iranian Foreign Minister stated that diplomatic engagement has proven effective in the past and can still be useful. However, he emphasized that it must be clear to everyone that there is fundamentally no such thing as a “military option,” let alone a “military solution.”

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister, wrote on X: “The U.S. president may have no interest in the 2015 nuclear agreement, but that deal includes a key commitment from Iran that remains intact and has even benefited the United States—despite its withdrawal: ‘Iran once again reaffirms that it will never, under any circumstances, seek, produce, or acquire nuclear weapons.'”

Ten years after the JCPOA was signed—and seven years after the U.S. unilaterally withdrew—there is still not a shred of evidence suggesting that Iran has violated this commitment. Even Tulsi Gabbard, the U.S. Director of National Intelligence, recently fully acknowledged this fact.

Diplomatic engagement has worked in the past and can still be effective. However, it must be clear to everyone that there is fundamentally no such thing as a “military option,” let alone a “military solution.”

The catastrophic failures in our region, which have cost previous U.S. administrations over $7 trillion, speak for themselves.
